The Studios’ past
These four railway arches were previously uncelebrated spaces which were used as garages for storage.
In 2017, the viaducts were transformed under the wing of Maverick Projects. Reloved, redecorated and reimagined as a venue: the space is now flushed with industrial-style beauty and exposed Victorian brickwork, keeping the authenticity of the space at heart.
Part of this renovation included the brief to design and build a pavilion structure, seamlessly connecting the viaduct arches to outside the venue. The outcome from Gruff Architects takes the form of a timber, steel and polycarbonate canopy that extends from two of the arches, forming additional event space outdoors. This pavilion is unique, architecturally acclaimed and has even been nominated for awards.
